I hate new jersey because the roads are scary to drive on. I feel trapped and am afraid to venture out. I like the diversity and being able to walk everywhere. The public transportation is nice also. I am originally from the Midwest, and you have to use your car for everything. The Midwest also is not very diverse, but it’s very peaceful and has a low cost of living. Now that I’ve lived in Bergen County for 5 years, I would go back in time and not marry my husband, whose job brought him to the state. The people in NJ are just as nice as people anywhere, but they have a tougher exterior at first. That could just be because it’s tough to survive and really make it in northern NJ. I hope we can move to a quiet state someday.

I spent a brief time there for school. Many people leave the state for school and few come unless money or athletics(some still leave, lol) is involved. Worst place I have been in the world and this is including some 3rd world countries. The key issue here is not physical infrastructure or urban crime, as the people who often scapegoat certain cities will have you to believe. Urban areas(ironically I met most nice people here) where many people have not even visited are not the reason people hate New Jersey. Most people do not come to the state and go to the most dangerous part to determine if they like a state or not, so obviously it is random everyday people. Never have I been somewhere where so many rude people reside. Also, don’t read too much into the liberal political leanings, the social climate is tense and isms are rampant. I attribute the problems partly to crime, many people who come from cultures where common courtesy and respecting personal space does not exist, economic disparities, everyone has a complex and wants to feel better than another person, and I go on and on. Thankfully I am leaving soon. To those of you that are staying and are naturally a nice person , good luck.

1. We do talk a little different but so what? In my opinion, people with Southern accents (Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, N & S Carolina, Kansas, etc.) sound really uneducated. We pronounce a few words a little differently (dawg, tawk, wadder, cawfee) really thats it.
2. The ‘gold-digging’ thing: Many parts of New Jersey are EXTREMELY WEALTHY. Just because someone drives a BMW and lives in a 7 bedroom house doesn’t mean they’re a gold-digger. Gold-diggers exist here, but also other places. Hey Californians: Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends. ‘Nuff said.
3. ‘Guidos and Guidettes’: Really? NOT everyone acts like those idiots on the Jersey Shore. ONLY ONE CAST MEMBER IS FROM NEW JERSEY. THE REST ARE FROM VARIOUS PARTS OF NEW YORK.
4. Being ’scared of us: Why? 90% of the people that live here are nice and friendly. We get sooooo defensive because we’re constantly being picked on. If you had a conversation with someone from New Jersey on anything OTHER than hating Jersey, you’d find we’re actually really nice.
I was born and raised in New Jersey and I didn’t really think it was all that bad until I actually saw the rest of this country. I lived in Cali for a short period of time and even with all its problems, Cali at least has gorgeous women, great weather, aweseome natural wonders, and jobs (it did at the time). NJ is awful; it is true. People will step over you to be first in line, do whatever it takes to get in front of you while driving no matter how fast you’re going, they are rude, loud, unhappy, opportunistic, and unsophisticated. The people here take pride in being what they call “real” but in reality it’s just plain hatefulness and backstabbing, however they think everyone is like that in the world. It’s an inferiority complex. It’s really a joke of a state on many levels and it’s a shame because it really could be something great with it’s geographic location but the culture of “I want things done yesterday”, me me me, shitty weather, outrageous taxes, fees for EVERYTHING, stuck-up beastly women, and the type a personalities just ruin it. I am a NJ native, but have lived most of my life in sunny FL. I have traveled to many states that I liked, including Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, and many others. I love the southern states, and visit West Virginia a lot to see my mother. I even like Ohio a lot , but NJ just sucks! Why anyone would actually want to live there or visit there is beyond me. So many nicer places. In Florida we have traffic and lots of people, but at least the weather is nice, and the beaches are great. Also i hate people from Philadelphia. They are so rude and think they are the greatest people in the world. I’d live in Mexico before I would live in NJ!
I was born in NJ, and lived in Pitman as a kid, but we got smart and moved to Florida when I was 12 back in 1982. My mother’s family finally left 4 years ago, and moved to West Virginia, which is much cheaper, and the people are much nicer. Nothing like good ole Southern hospitality! How am I supposed to live here? I can’t understand why anyone lives here. I was born in Pennsylvania and have lived in California, Indiana and have traveled to many other states and I don’t understand why if you can leave NJ that you would stay. If you are from here and have never left you don’t have the right to say how great it is and I don’t care what you think. Traffic, traffic everywhere and I have seen drivers try to run people off the road. I’ve never heard so many horns honking, rude. Little towns everywhere where I am and taxes are insane, highest in the country but where does all the money go. Seems to be ineffective govt to me. I just left a beautiful home that was brand new in Indiana and I can’t even find one here I like. My house would cost double the price here in NJ. I was in a beautiful fantastic town with a great school, state of the art computers in every class room, air conditioning, big beautifuil public library, community pool for $200 a summer, Great community sports etc. I’m supposed to live here in a house that is half the size, taxes that are almost triple and go to a school that is 80 years old with no airconditioning or computers. My gym membership is triple the cost. To join a pool is triple the cost and I have to pay just to walk onto the beach in the summer!!!!! I lived in California for 7 years and the beaches are breathtaking and amazing compared to these dirty commercial things and in California it is free!!!! As it should be. Why do people live here? All the money you are spending on stuff could be going to retirement accounts and college funds and not to crazy ridiculous fees for things. Where is all the money going? I hate it here.

NJ is full of strong, proud people? I personally disagree. I was raised in NJ, left for college, traveled far and wide and married a Texan. NJ’s definition of strong is rude and hurtful with an ugly huge dose of attitude, which if you carried that stink out here, you wouldn’t survive either. I hate new jersey because the roads are scary to drive on. I feel trapped and am afraid to venture out. I like the diversity and being able to walk everywhere. The public transportation is nice also. I am originally from the Midwest, and you have to use your car for everything. The Midwest also is not very diverse, but it’s very peaceful and has a low cost of living. Now that I’ve lived in Bergen County for 5 years, I would go back in time and not marry my husband, whose job brought him to the state. The people in NJ are just as nice as people anywhere, but they have a tougher exterior at first. That could just be because it’s tough to survive and really make it in northern NJ. I hope we can move to a quiet state someday.

New Jersey is worst than 3rd world countries.
I spent a brief time there for school. Many people leave the state for school and few come unless money or athletics(some still leave, lol) is involved. Worst place I have been in the world and this is including some 3rd world countries. The key issue here is not physical infrastructure or urban crime, as the people who often scapegoat certain cities will have you to believe. Urban areas(ironically I met most nice people here) where many people have not even visited are not the reason people hate New Jersey. Most people do not come to the state and go to the most dangerous part to determine if they like a state or not, so obviously it is random everyday people. Never have I been somewhere where so many rude people reside. Also, don’t read too much into the liberal political leanings, the social climate is tense and isms are rampant. I attribute the problems partly to crime, many people who come from cultures where common courtesy and respecting personal space does not exist, economic disparities, everyone has a complex and wants to feel better than another person, and I go on and on. Thankfully I am leaving soon. To those of you that are staying and are naturally a nice person , good luck.

You guys are idiots. New Jersey isn’t a perfect state but neither are the other 49 states. We get soooo much crap on how we ‘tawk’, that were ‘gold-digging’ and ‘guidos’.
1. We do talk a little different but so what? In my opinion, people with Southern accents (Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, N & S Carolina, Kansas, etc.) sound really uneducated. We pronounce a few words a little differently (dawg, tawk, wadder, cawfee) really thats it.
2. The ‘gold-digging’ thing: Many parts of New Jersey are EXTREMELY WEALTHY. Just because someone drives a BMW and lives in a 7 bedroom house doesn’t mean they’re a gold-digger. Gold-diggers exist here, but also other places. Hey Californians: Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends. ‘Nuff said.
3. ‘Guidos and Guidettes’: Really? NOT everyone acts like those idiots on the Jersey Shore. ONLY ONE CAST MEMBER IS FROM NEW JERSEY. THE REST ARE FROM VARIOUS PARTS OF NEW YORK.
4. Being ’scared of us: Why? 90% of the people that live here are nice and friendly. We get sooooo defensive because we’re constantly being picked on. If you had a conversation with someone from New Jersey on anything OTHER than hating Jersey, you’d find we’re actually really nice.
I was born and raised in New Jersey and I didn’t really think it was all that bad until I actually saw the rest of this country. I lived in Cali for a short period of time and even with all its problems, Cali at least has gorgeous women, great weather, aweseome natural wonders, and jobs (it did at the time). NJ is awful; it is true. People will step over you to be first in line, do whatever it takes to get in front of you while driving no matter how fast you’re going, they are rude, loud, unhappy, opportunistic, and unsophisticated. The people here take pride in being what they call “real” but in reality it’s just plain hatefulness and backstabbing, however they think everyone is like that in the world. It’s an inferiority complex. It’s really a joke of a state on many levels and it’s a shame because it really could be something great with it’s geographic location but the culture of “I want things done yesterday”, me me me, shitty weather, outrageous taxes, fees for EVERYTHING, stuck-up beastly women, and the type a personalities just ruin it. My gf and I are moving out West somewhere…btw she’s from Pennsylvania.

I am a NJ native, but have lived most of my life in sunny FL. I have traveled to many states that I liked, including Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, Texas, and many others. I love the southern states, and visit West Virginia a lot to see my mother. I even like Ohio a lot , but NJ just sucks! Why anyone would actually want to live there or visit there is beyond me. So many nicer places. In Florida we have traffic and lots of people, but at least the weather is nice, and the beaches are great. Also i hate people from Philadelphia. They are so rude and think they are the greatest people in the world. I’d live in Mexico before I would live in NJ!
I was born in NJ, and lived in Pitman as a kid, but we got smart and moved to Florida when I was 12 back in 1982. My mother’s family finally left 4 years ago, and moved to West Virginia, which is much cheaper, and the people are much nicer. Nothing like good ole Southern hospitality! I think of NJ in the winter when I’m at Clearwater Beach, and they are shoveling snow. Plus the people of south Joisey have such a goofy accent. I always thought people in Pitman were so rude and unfriendly. But it must not be too bad in NJ because so many people want to live there, which is fine with me, because it means less of youse peoples down here. LOL

I can navigate a circle – with attitude. All good nights must end at a diner – preferably with cheese fries or a cheese steak sub. How am I supposed to live here? I can’t understand why anyone lives here. I was born in Pennsylvania and have lived in California, Indiana and have traveled to many other states and I don’t understand why if you can leave NJ that you would stay. If you are from here and have never left you don’t have the right to say how great it is and I don’t care what you think. Traffic, traffic everywhere and I have seen drivers try to run people off the road. I’ve never heard so many horns honking, rude. Little towns everywhere where I am and taxes are insane, highest in the country but where does all the money go. Seems to be ineffective govt to me. I just left a beautiful home that was brand new in Indiana and I can’t even find one here I like. My house would cost double the price here in NJ. I was in a beautiful fantastic town with a great school, state of the art computers in every class room, air conditioning, big beautifuil public library, community pool for $200 a summer, Great community sports etc. I’m supposed to live here in a house that is half the size, taxes that are almost triple and go to a school that is 80 years old with no airconditioning or computers. My gym membership is triple the cost. To join a pool is triple the cost and I have to pay just to walk onto the beach in the summer!!!!! I lived in California for 7 years and the beaches are breathtaking and amazing compared to these dirty commercial things and in California it is free!!!! As it should be. Why do people live here? All the money you are spending on stuff could be going to retirement accounts and college funds and not to crazy ridiculous fees for things. Where is all the money going? I hate it here.

NJ is full of strong, proud people? I personally disagree. I was raised in NJ, left for college, traveled far and wide and married a Texan. NJ’s definition of strong is rude and hurtful with an ugly huge dose of attitude, which if you carried that stink out here, you wouldn’t survive either. And forget trying to confide in someone, after they tell you they won’t tell a soul they’ll alert the media and suddenly everyone knows your business. Never thought anyone would be interested in my business but in New Jersey they have nothing better to do than gossip and keep up with the Joneses. When I moved away from Jersey I went to a psychic who said the life had been sucked out of me and that I was like a walking dead person. That a lot happened to you and it was not my fault. I should have said yeah I was living in New Jersey. That would have explained it all.

As a comparison, take any other state in the US, remove CLASS and intelligence from all of the residents and BAM! You’ve got New Jersey.
New Jersey is like a 3rd world country, with people so stupid it’s own Government officials don’t even trust their own people to be smart enough to pump their own gas.
You want to be entertained, watch a person with NJ license plates try to pump their own gas at another state. It’s like handing a chimp a loaded gun and waiting to see how long it takes before they shoot themselves.
All of the Jersey Shore and Jerseylicious shows may be scripted but they are right on the money when it comes to portraying the type of people who live in the state.
All the guys are either fat greasers or walnut brained Steroid heads.
All of the girls are fake and bake, dim witted, trashy, materialistic, peacocks, who will spread their legs or dirty their knees for any guy with a tan and an Escalade.
Eventually all of these girls will end up just as fat, saggy armed, gunt bulging, and loud mouthed as their mothers and grandmothers, although they all SWEAR up and down that they won’t. They are all just to stupid to see it.
