New Jersey is one of the smallest states in the country but yet it gets mentioned in so much media – it’s obvious we are on everyone’s minds!!! All of the shows that portray NJ as greasy and stupid are all edited and scripted, but yet millions of people can’t wait to see them and the shores are packed with people who want more. Yep, it’s amazing and contagious, and bad ass!
Southern NJ is very nice, especially in Salem County. I lived in this area as a child and have great memories of the farms. I live in Orlando, FL now, which is just as expensive and has just as much traffic as NJ. Plus in Orlando you have all those stupid tourists asking all those stupid questions. I work at Disney and I’ve never met so many stupid people in my life. So NJ isn’t that bad of a place.
Yes “BRO” I Live in New Jersey. I curse… a lot. I say “yo”, and I say it often. I sure as hell don’t pump my own gas. I know what real pizza tastes like, and I know that a bagel is much more than a ****** roll with a hole in the middle. I judge people by what exit they are off the parkway. I can navigate a circle – with attitude. All good nights must end at a diner – preferably with cheese fries or a cheese steak sub. And yes it’s a sub, not a hoagie, a grinder, or worse, a hero, and I wash it down with soda, not pop. Two words…mother ******. I don’t go to the beach – I go down the shore. And boardwalk brawls are just a part of the atmosphere. Yes, I have a dawg, and I drink cawfee. I know that 65mph really means 80. When someone cuts me off, they get the horn AND the finger …and expect it. Dunt you just love me???
Q: Isn’t New Jersey just a dump for New York’s trash?
A: That’s hard to say since New Jersey is the richest state per capita in the US (For years, we were second to Connecticut). New Jersey also spends more per student than any state in the Union on education.
You’re from Jersey when..
You’ve been seriously injured at Action Park.
You know that the only people who call it “Joisey” are from New York (usually The Bronx) or Texas.
You don’t think of citrus when people mention “The Oranges.”
You know that it’s called “Great Adventure,” not “Six Flags.”
You’ve ordered a hard roll with butter for breakfast.
You’ve known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.
You’ve eaten at a diner, when you were stoned or drunk, at 3 am.
\Whenever you park, there’s a Camaro within three spots of you.
You remember that the “Two Guys” were from Harrison.
You know that the state isn’t one big oil refinery.
At least three people in your family still love Bruce Springsteen, and you know what town Jon Bon Jovi is from.
You know what a “jug handle” is.
You know that a WaWa is an AMAZING convenience store.
You know that the state isn’t all farmland.
You know that there are no “beaches” in new Jersey – there’s “The Shore,” and you know that the road to the shore is “The Parkway” not “The Garden State Highway.”
You know that “Piney” isn’t referring to a tree.
Even your school cafeteria made good Italian subs, and, you call it a “sub” not a “submarine sandwich” or worse yet, a “hoagie” or a “hero.”
You remember the song from the Palisades Park commercials.
You know how to properly negotiate a Circle.
You knew that the last question had to do with driving.
You know that “Acme” is an actual store, not just a Warner Bros creation.
You know that this is the only “New…” state that doesn’t require “New” to identify it(like, try …Mexico, …York, …Hampshire (doesn’t work, does it?).
You know how to translate this conversation: “Jeet yet?” “No, Jew?”
You only go to New York City for day trips, and you only call it “The City.”
You know that a “White Castle” is the name of BOTH a fast food chain AND a fast food sandwich.
You consider a corned beef sandwich with lettuce and mayo a sacrilege.
In the 80’s you wore your hair REALLY high.
You don’t think “What exit” (do you live near?) is very funny.
You know that the real first “strip shopping center” in the country is Route 22.
You know that no respectable New Jersian goes to Princeton – that’s for out-of-staters.
The Jets-Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar.
You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.
You can see the Manhattan skyline from some part of your town.
You’ve gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of Willowbrook Mall.
You’ve eaten a Boardwalk cheese steak with vinegar fries.
You have a favorite Atlantic City casino.
You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.
You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.
Every year you have at least one kid in your class named Tony.
You know the location of every clip shown in the Sopranos opening credits.
You know that people from North Jersey go to Seaside Heights, and people from Central Jersey go to Belmar and people from South Jersey go to Wildwood.
You weren’t raised in New Jersey — you were raised in either North Jersey, Central Jersey or South Jersey.
You don’t consider Newark or Camden to actually be part of the state.
You remember the stores Korvette’s, Two Guys, Rickel’s, Channel, Bamberger’s and Orbach’s.
You also remember Palisades Amusement Park.
You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.
You’ve never pumped your own gas.
You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from New Jersey.
umm. i live in New Jersey and i love it here. I have a long line of ancestors that were born and raised in New Jersey. My great grandfather was even the mayor of Newark and opened the Newark Airport. New Jersey is not all that everybody sees. There are nice beaches that i go to, there are the farms, the beautiful countryside. the Pinelands( large forrest covering much of New Jersey). People just don’t see the real New Jersey. I don’t have any accents nor do anyone i know that are from new jersey. I don’t say joisy, or coiffe, the only people i know that do are actually from New York. I also hate it when bennys come to our beaches and our pumpkin patches(yes i see a lot of New Yorkers coming to our farms). iF you google New Jersey and look at Wikipedia or on the New Jersey state website you’ll learn a lot of the truths about New Jersey.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, they act low class and there is vulgarity (and often in a loud manner) in their speech from every direction…all the time. Sorry, but it’s true. It doesn’t seem to bother anybody else here, which I think is also strange, but it bothers me. Anyway……..
I live in NJ and hate it. MANY people everywhere here are rude, act like you’re not even there, and seem always angry. They don’t respond even if you ‘do’ try and say hello to them. Many cashiers don’t ever say “thank you”. Too many foreigners (and dumb people) and too many people packed in such a small area (Bergen County- the northeast). Taxes and cost of living is TOO high. You’d think with all the money the state gets, the ‘Garden State’ would actually ‘look’ like a garden. It’s ugly, boring, folks litter all over the place, no real culture, no politeness, no courteousness, no neighborliness, not much to do, but shop (if you have money). It’s a cold and dark place. The people and government make it that way. Nobody cares about anything, but themselves. You have to pay to go onto the beaches and they aren’t even clean and look gray and ugly, Some drivers are nuts! Ummm…I can never find many things here in NJ. I mean, every time I’m trying to find locations for places in the area, there never is any. You’d think ‘everything’ was here, but you’d be surprised how much their isn’t here. Eateries…nothing special..same old stuff. The food isn’t so great. I can hardly find good pizza that I like here. Long Island, NY had great pizza places…don’t know if they still do though. No real interesting different types of concepts, when it comes to eateries. The road signs on the highways (U-turn signs mostly) must have been put up by monkeys. They often are not in a good spot (where it would actually help you and you’d see it in time, etc.) but sometimes aren’t even there at all. I’ve been finding so much of that. I bet the sign guy gets paid a hell of a lot too…for doing nothing! Anyway, the worst is the people and the best (and only think I can think of) about NJ is that we still don’t have to pump our own gas. Also, I ‘think’ (not sure) that the air seems to be a bit cleaner smelling (at least in my area) compared to some other states where you can ’see’ the pollution. You don’t really ’see’ it in (northern) NJ…which is good. The climate aint’ that great here. It’s often cold, rainy, and dreary looking. We ‘do’ get a few warmer nice days in the summer though, but it’s not enough. Overall, it’s too difficult and unhappy living here (can’t meet anybody) and there’s NOTHING here! Why be here? Who cares about NYC (never go there anyway)..it’s too expensive! I’m praying to find a better place to move to. Oh yeah, the people are unattractive. Everyone I see looks like trailer park trash…fat..baggy dirty old ripped clothes…looks like they’ve slept in them for 30 years. No attractive men whatsoever….and I’m really not that picky. Also, it seems everyone tries to act like a tough guy (huge turn-off). It’s a strange place. I’m sure it used to be a nicer place, somewhere WAY in the past. Now, there’s no life here…no heart…so soul…nothing. So very pretentious too. It feels like living in a dark hole and all by yourself…living here. I could go on and on and on…… I’ve lived in many states, but never felt this way about any place. I only moved here to be closer to some relative about 20 years ago and really tried to like it..make it work, etc., but it’s impossible and it’s gotten worse and worse. I hate it more and more everyday. There HAS to be some place better than this. There are worse, I’m sure, but there has to be better also.
Reasons I hate New Jersey”
1. It’s one of the most corrupt states in the union; vying for 1st with Louisana.
2. It’s a police state. Police get bonuses for ensuring convctions.
3. The peole are rude and nasty. Speak like Soprano’s even if not in the mob.
4. The peple are corrupt.
5. The people are the most boring insipid, vapid people you will ever meet. Despite all the PH.d’s they nothing of consequence to say.
6. Conversation style is bloviating; first they’ll boast about where they went to collage no matter how old they are, then they list all they claim to have, then they talk about where they’ve been but they can’t tell you anything about the place, then they tell you who left them money.
7. The government is corrupt.
8. The people who support the corruption are a part of the corruption.
9. 2nd highest property taxes in the nation.
10. They care for no one.
11 They hate everyone.
12. Unfriendly.
13. Provide hiighschool students numeous graduation tests, each one dumbed down, until student passes to graduate; then claim the status of having the most hish school graduation levels in the nation.
14. Largest share of adult deadbeats living at home.
14. Everything is overpriced.
15. Government workers get paid but don’t do their jobs.
16. Bad highways.
17. There is one little known beautiful beach, Avon. Yes, they charge. New Jerseyians won’t do anything without getting paid.
18. Highest rate of cancer in the nation.
19. Highest rate of Autism in the nation.
20. Homes look the same.
21. Landscaping looks the same.
22. The people are narcissist and feel narcissitally enttled.
23. Anyone that is highly educated will go brain dead from all the worthless bloviating convesations.
23. Everyone will cheat you.
24. Yes, you can find some of the best doctors, but you can’t converse with them because they’re highly hubristic and have delusions of godhood.
25. Too many lawyers.
What makes New Jersy terrible is it’s corruption and it’s provincials. Unfriendly, rude, nasty hateful people. They so self-absorbed they have no clue how everyone sees them.
There really isn’t all that much in NJ:
1. I don’t know what you’re talking about, but the jughandles in NJ are DANGEROUS and that’s why the state is getting rid of so many of them.
2. NJ’s nicest beach is Seaside Heights, and they charge you to be there! The other beaches are trash!
3. I live in Philadelphia now and I lived in New York City, and let me tell you, we don’t like it when people from NJ come to visit. Stay out!
4. It makes sense logically to have the most Ph.D’s and highest per capita when NJ has the most people per square mile. Too crowded.
5. Wawa comes from Pennsylvania just so you know. It’s headquarters is in Wawa, PA. It’s not even a NJ company.
6. Having them pump your gas can be inconvenient, especially when you’ve got somewhere to be and only one person is on duty and you’ve got a line of cars.
7. You guys have Atlantic City. It’s dirty, but it’s AC!
8. Sorry to tell you, it’s no misconception. NJ is dirty in most parts. I’ve been through the whole state and I can honestly say… it gets dirty.
9. Most NJ people I’ve met aren’t as much rude as they are dense. Be proud of your density!
10. PA has Hershey Park and Dorney Park and Wild Water Kingdom. NYC has Coney Island. Six Flags is fun, but it’s nothing special.
11. PA doesn’t having a clothing tax either. Neither does DE. Hell, a lot of states don’t have a clothing tax.
12. Don’t talk about PA drivers. They drive well. NJ has the highest driving age in the nation, the car insurance is ridiculous, and when NJ drivers visit other states, they have no driving sense whatsoever. And what’s up with every street having a Rt. # next to it? And the mile markers/signs? Weird.
13. Governor Christie. Enough said.
Yes, if you like states that have been completely developed leaving very little nature, high property taxes, crazy highways, and no attractions, then you will definitely love New Jersey. America’s armpit.
Who ever you all are saying that NJ has some of the best beaches in the world are obviously Jersey degenerates who have never left this state. The beaches in Jersey are nasty, there are cigarette butts everywhere, the water is nasty, its crowed and they make you pay.
Sure the STANDARD (which is nothing more then a fancy word for COST in this situation is ) of living is high but the quality of live is completely sub par in every statistical category. Its only expensive to live here cuz the state is so corrupt and its close to NYC which is not even convenient to get to since there are too many people here. I encourage you Jersey lovers to get out and see the world. Only then will you realize what a shit hole you are truly living in. The only nice parts of Jersey are too expensive for the average and too far from jobs for most. Most suburban towns in Jersey are so trashy I would never even consider living there. All wanna be gangstas, illegals and drug addicts. I would be curious to know how many people in this state are on assistance cuz I sure as hell know that over half of the people who live her cannot afford to be here. Once again this makes the quality of life sub par.
hahaha for the record, all the people from jersey are out loving and living life to the fullest right now .. while everyone is stuck indoors on this website … i love it and i love jersey
There's really so much: 1. Jughandle turns make driving along roads like Rt 9 a lot safer than doing those dangerous U-turns. 2. We have some of the nicest beaches in the country- maybe even in the world. 3. We are within an hour or two of Philadelphia AND New York City, two of America's most historic and fun cities. 4. We have the most PhD's per capita. 5. We have one of the highest incomes per capita. 6. We have Wawa, which I believe to be the best convenience store in the world! haha (It really is awesome though) 7. We don't pump our own gas- not because we're too stupid (I've done it before- It's easy), but because it employs many people and allows us to sit in the nice warm car in the middle of winter. 8. We have Atlantic City, which is the top gambling site of the east coast. 9. The misconception of NJ being "dirty" comes from the millions of people who visit NYC by flying into Newark Airport and driving to the city on the Turnpike. That small stretch of road is disgusting and nowhere else in NJ smells or looks like it. 10. We made be rude at times, but I wonder why… Maybe it's because others immediately detest our state even though they have never stepped foot on our soil. 11. We have a Six Flags, in Jackson, NJ. Those are always fun. 12. No tax on clothing. That means when you go in a store and find a $20 shirt, you only pay $20. 13. You all may think we are bad drivers, but we're just fast. When we see "Speed limit 65", it means "70, minimum". The bad drivers in our state are PA drivers, who sit in the left lane and go 60 or 55. The left lane is for PASSING the slow drivers in the right lane. 14. And as for the corruption, which I hate, our current Governer Christie is trying his hardest to cut spending, instead of raising taxes, and get rid of corruption.
Here is you’re beautiful New Jersey you imbecilic, fucktarded numb-nuts:
“Radioactive water that leaked from the nation's oldest nuclear power plant has now reached a major underground aquifer that supplies drinking water to much of southern New Jersey, the state's environmental chief said Friday.”
New Jersey is extremely ugly, not because of the horribly fouled-up, radioactive environment; it’s the stupid jerk, empty shell of a cockroach people, which live in that horrid shithole.

Just want to say that the name of the website is "ihatenewjersey.com" ..and only about 20% of the comments on here are people hatin on nj..yah what does that tell u?
and for the dumbass that said "george washington stayed in nj for a night" your wrong. The house that he LIVED in is about 20 mins away from me in Morristown.
For the rest of you..you obviously havn't been to NJ to experience its real beauty..the NJ TURNPIKE is a highway..and you cant judge a state based on one highway.
Lived in that toilet as a kid. Was too young and dumb to know it was a shithole.
Lived there for a year as an adult. Soon as my lease was up; immediately moved across the river to PA; and it was one of the best decisions of my life.
hahaha for the record, all the people from jersey are out loving and living life to the fullest right now .. while everyone is stuck indoors on this website … i love it and i love jersey
The only thing love about New Jersey is that the pin-headed, low-life, dumbass, drugged out, moronic, mean-spirited, neo-Nazi thugs, gangsters, corrupt imbeciles, control freak, SSRI popping, miserably depressed indigenous fuck wads that inhabit that cesspool are too retarded to move somewhere else…and thank god for that! New Jersey is the worst place on earth, a sentence in hell for those who live there and they don’t know the difference. Thank god they don’t the difference! AVOID THIS STATE AT ALL COSTS!
lets face it, the only reason people hate jersey is out of shear jealousy. especially if youre from upstate new york. (which is a terrible place and should be burned to the ground)just because we have the best beaches and cheapest gas and last but certainly not least WAWA doesnt give you the right to hate jersey. where can you go to a beach in new york? lake erie? yum.
@Jersey Girl
We will once you assholes stop posting in the I Hate New Jersey section
Can all you ‘haters’ please go into the ‘I Hate New Jersey’ Section? You’re really not welcome here.

I am a NJ native, but now live in FL, but I really miss NJ.

Are there self-centered, hateful, idiotic, arrogant jerks in New Jersey? Yes.
Are there self-centered, hateful, idiotic, arrogant jerks everywhere in the world? Yes.
Is everyone in New Jersey a self-centered, hateful, idiotic, arrogant jerk? No.
@Anonymous
Yes but thats not MOST people, thats the people living in the big houses and who are rich!
Oh and for the record, that was meant to compliment her! bravo ,she had the right idea ,if you are going to live in NJ ,get that high paying job!

6. Conversation style is bloviating; first they’ll boast about where they went to collage no matter how old they are, then they list all they claim to have, then they talk about where they’ve been but they can’t tell you anything about the place, then they tell you who left them money.

@Anonymous
There's really so much:
6. We have Wawa, which I believe to be the best convenience store in the world! haha (It really is awesome though)
New Jersey is extremely ugly, not because of the horribly fouled-up, radioactive environment; it’s the stupid jerk, empty shell of a cockroach people, which live in that horrid shithole.

and for the dumbass that said "george washington stayed in nj for a night" your wrong.
(which is a terrible place and should be burned to the ground)just because we have the best beaches and cheapest gas and last but certainly not least WAWA doesnt give you the right to hate jersey. where can you go to a beach in new york? lake erie? yum.
07620 – my zip code, look that up on forbes and get back to me lol
i love NJ because there are new jersey morons who say they don't know anyone in new jersey with a NJ accent.
Fist bump yourself off a cliff
New Jersey has a very high standard of living with 3 of the Top 10 Wealthiest Counties in America.
